Area Law Enforcement
Roughly fifty vehicles have been marked with what appears to be human bodily fluid in the Germany's municipality of Hanau near Frankfurt, according to law enforcement.
Automobiles, walls and postal boxes were defaced, in some cases with prohibited symbols, they stated in a release.
Officers report they were alerted late on Wednesday night, when a man noticed that a vehicle in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been marked with a reddish substance.
The liquid had been applied in the shape of a banned symbol, they stated.
Officers then discovered numerous other marked automobiles and building exteriors in the surrounding area.
These symbols are prohibited in Germany under legislation prohibiting the visible presentation of Nazi-era symbols.
Police state preliminary tests indicate the substance was most likely human blood.
"Currently there is no clue as to its source; officials are presently not cognizant of any injuries in association with the incident," they commented.
Municipal representatives said they were trying "to resolve the incident" and have appealed to the community for tips.
An important representative commented the incident left him without words and needed to be resolved rapidly.
"This act hits the very heart of Hanau and reawakens the pain of the right-wing violent incident five years ago," he wrote on social media, mentioning the murder of nine victims by a gunman aiming at individuals of foreign heritage in five years prior.
